I wrote the Kickstarter copy and managed the successfully funded campaign for Sergey Safonov’s Luno the Moon Rover. Sergey had originally designed the spaceship character as the mascot for his Moscow-based designer toy store, Lunohod-1. Now, the collecting community wanted a Luno figure! Sergey set about to make it happen, and I signed on as copywriter and campaign manager. To give the Kickstarter campaign an added layer of meaningful context, we timed the project to conclude on the 50th anniversary of the first man in space. 57 people pledged $5,001 dollars to bring Luno to life as a customizable, rolling, storytelling toy. Sergey then traveled from Russia to the Hong Kong offices of Crazy Label, where he signed and sketched each toy box. Shortly thereafter, Sergey dispatched Luno around the world!
