Solid-Ideas is a Bay Area model-making, prototyping and custom fabrication agency. They make absolute magic with a combination of art and engineering, and I translate tech speak into accessible copy for their website and newsletters.
You probably remember Verizon’s “Arena” ad campaign for the Droid Bionic smart phone: A female warrior battles futuristic robots, and as she defeats each one, she claims a “souvenir” from their robot bodies. When Verizon wanted real souvenirs, their agency, mcgarrybowen, hired us to turn the computer-rendered robots into real life replicas. Solid Ideas oversaw the project from start to finish. We began by meticulously reworking complex 3D Maya files. The data in the files couldn’t have existed in reality, so we carefully added volume, braces, and sectioning to transform them into objects that obey the rules of our physical world. Finally, we fabricated four brushed aluminum display pedestals and customized heavy-duty individual carrying cases with die-cut foam to protect each robot in transit.
With our background in engineering and the arts, we’re uniquely qualified to understand your purpose and aesthetically communicate your ideas.

Role Copywriting, marketing
“Solid-Ideas is a very technical business, but there is also an art to what we produce. We needed a great copywriter to create case studies so we could better explain to the world our process and results. The position was not an easy one to fill. It called for a writer with technical writing chops, an appreciation for aesthetics and the ability to convey information in an accessible, personable and concise manner. Jeremy is just such a writer. When I read the newsletters and case studies he writes for us, I always think, ‘”WOW, we do really cool and excellent stuff!” I also think: “I’d hire the people described in that writing!” And isn’t that exactly what you want in a marketing writer? We look forward to working with Jeremy again.”
