100% Online Student Success
This was one of the most comprehensive projects I worked on for Delmar Cengage Learning. It began with a developmental edit of psychologist, Roxanne DuVivier’s manuscript. I was brought on to make the textbook flow for its intended audience: students. Where the script needed additional support, I contributed copy (in the areas of Communication, Health and Technology).
I then made the Online Learning Companion (for students) to the core text. I created assessment quizzes for each of the 9 chapters and wrote 2 tip sheets per chapter. Tips include topics ranging from budgeting to ergonomics to stress reduction. Finally, I created a selection of Web Resources to further supplement the content.
I was also asked to edit the Online Learning Companion (for instructors). I edited lesson plans, created 9 more quizzes and wrote PowerPoint presentations for teaching the material.

Milady is an imprint of Delmar Cengage Learning. I hadn’t realized this, but Milady has been around for 80 years. Milady U and Salon Training International (STI) make up the training division of Milady. The online university provides continuing education courses to salon and spa owners, technicians and stylists.
I worked with Susie Carder, founder of Your Beauty Network, to create 5 online courses for Milady U. Based on information provided by Susie, I wrote all the content, speeches and presentations. I also created the quiz questions and final exam. Course descriptions follow. Scroll down for screen shots. PowerPoint presentations are here.

Thomson/Delmar Learning (Now Cengage/Delmar Learning)
The Virtual Career Success Library provides distant learning students with online access to academic and lifestyle support all in one hub. It includes a large database of potential careers to motivate students.
Other features of the Virtual Career Success Library include:
- Dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs and other reference resources
- Links to free newspapers, magazines and e-books
- Tips on landing and keeping a great job
- Health information
My job on this project was to take a pool of disorganized resources and create a tidy portal. I checked all pre-existing material for broken links and added substantial new content to bring it up-to-date.
